Fair play versus unbridled racism

Due to the ongoing onslaught from some of our citizens regarding the influx of people from other countries, I ‘m compelled to comment as follows:

My barber is RASHID from KURDISTAN. I have been a customer of his since 2017.

The electrician I call when I need any repairs or electrical work done in MAREK. He is from POLAND. He is reliable and efficient.

The people who came to install blinds in our kitchen are a married couple. He is SCOTTISH and she is from POLAND.

My dentist is JIHAN AL OTHMAN. She was born in EGYPT.

My cardiologist is DR. HAMID HAROON. He was born in EGYPT and has worked in our local hospital for several years.

Another cardiologist that has treated me in the past seven years is DR. MERHRAN ASGARI KHANEGHAH  who comes from IRAN.

My bank manager is MRS. ANNA SELTZER from POLAND. She is so helpful and knowledgeable.

My proctologist is MR. BORGONGKA from DEHLI, INDIA.

The ENT clinician who attended to me at the local hospital was M/S ISA from EGYPT.

My first pacemaker was fitted by DR. AHMED ALAEDDINE from EGYPT.

My second pacemaker was fitted by  DR. CLARKSON from ENGLAND

I am very grateful to those people I have mentioned here. Most as I have shown are not originally from UK. But without these so called “foreigners” I am sure our nation would be missing them badly.

So far, I have not mentioned the so called “foreign people”  that drive our buses and taxis or delivering our groceries and items bought online from the likes of Amazon etc. Where would we be without them I ask myself.

Then there’s nurses, care workers, laboratory technicians, trained pharmacists, social workers etc. all of whom I encounter as I go about living my life here in UK.

Before I condemn anyone at all, let me first be honest and allow fair play and compassion into my very being.

Who am I to pass judgment on anyone. I am no saint. But I do know what it’s like to be an “economic refugee” having been forced to leave the UK in the seventies because I could not earn a decent living to support my family.

The headlines recently promoting comments about the so called “foreigners” from a very wealthy man who has a large stake in Manchester United football club are part and parcel of unwelcome sensationalism that we certainly do not need.

The club by the way has many “foreigners” not just in the team but also until very recently in managerial positions. Here are just some of the players in the Man United team at the present time:

Andre Onana, Senne Lammens, Diogo Dalot, Noussair Mazraoui, Lisandro Martinez, Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, Kobbie Maindo, Matheus Cunha, Joshua Zirkzee, Bryan Mbuemo, Jadon Sancho to name a few.

And before I finish this rant, I wonder where we would stand in the rankings of achievements from many other sporting events if it were not for the successes of our athletes of all descriptions. Many of our outstanding athletes are from so called “foreign heritage”

British people were brought up in the past to have respect for others and fair play was part of our heritage. Have we as a nation lost these values? I wonder….
